  • Types of innovation – technological and non-technological innovation, radical or cumulative, product or organizational and process innovation.
  • Historical examples of businesses and processes of commercial exploitation of scientific knowledge and technology.
  • Factors and conditions of innovativeness – innovation system & business characteristics.
  • Indicators for measuring the innovativeness of an economy..
  • Τhe institutional design of innovation – innovation development areas, R&D, funding sources, business innovation strategy and management – case studies from the international and domestic environment.

Educational Goals

Students learn the concept, content and significance of business innovation for business competitiveness. This is achieved by the presentation and analysis of applied examples and, in parallel, it is systematized by delving into the relevant theories that have been formulated for the subject and its individual aspects. Through the study of innovative strategies and practical real businesses of international and regional scope, students have the opportunity to understand the processes and critical factors – inside and outside the business – that determine the success of the innovative venture. on this basis they learn to recognize the conditions that favor or hinder innovation and to assess the opportunities and threats as the case may be.
